India's Road Safety Movement
Safety Foundation is a non-profit working across India to build road safety awareness — through helmets, education, community outreach and policy advocacy.
Founded in 2015, Safety Foundation is a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing road accidents across India through awareness, education, and grassroots action. We work with communities, schools, traffic police, and district administrations to build a culture of road safety.
Our awareness campaigns focus on four key behaviours that can prevent the majority of road accidents in India.
Two-wheelers account for 36% of road deaths in India. A helmet reduces the risk of fatal head injury by 42%.
Seat belts reduce the risk of death for front seat passengers by 45–50% and for rear seat passengers by 25%.
Understanding and following traffic signals, speed limits, and lane discipline saves thousands of lives every year.
Knowing road signs and symbols helps every road user navigate safely and prevents confusion-caused accidents.
